20 lb loss, hooray!

Well, folks, I am excited to report that I have successfully lost 20 lbs since I started trying (gym and eating healthy) in late June (6 months ago)!

I am thrilled to have reached my pre-pregnancy weight! I've noticed, though, that even achieving my pre-prego weight has not gotten me back to my pre-prego figure. Apparently, I'm going to have to keep going. In fact, based upon the improvements I've seen over the past 20 lbs and the way I WANT to eventually look, I think I'm going to have to modify my goal weight (which is still 10 lbs away) down another 10 lbs. Which means, if you do the math, that I've reached the half way point! I am happy about it and super motivated to keep working because I'm feeling great and looking great too! My ultimate goal is more ubiquitous, rather than arriving at a specific weight: I want to be back in my favorite jeans from when I was engaged (size 6) and be trim and strong in general. I can't wait to be HOT by summer! (and I'll look awesome in all those graduation pics!)

So even though I'm only half way there, I'm stoked about a 20 lb milestone and looking for a non-food way to celebrate. Trouble is, we don't have any money. Hmmmm.... any ideas?

  1. My reward is always getting a new book or art supply I've been wanting. Something small. I know you can't spend money but give yourself a quarter every time you finish a good workout and it'll add up fast:)

Congratulations! I know you'll reach your goal. You are always so diligent. Having been there, it's worth every struggle...You'll feel awesome.

  2. Congrats! It always feels SOOO good to reach milestones along the way to a big goal. Yeah, you! And you should definitely celebrate...hmmm...maybe enter a 5K or something to show yourslef just how fit you've become. Or have a special datenight. For us that might mean a bike ride to the taco wagon down the street, or something equally cheap :) Anyway, well done!

  4. Congrats on the weight loss! I'm waiting for my 6 week exam so I can get the go ahead to start losing my weight. I know you know this, but just remember that your body shape changes when you are pregnant. So even though you may lose the weight, you may not be 'exactly' the way you were pre-children. :) Just don't want you to get too discouraged. :)

As a reward you could send Eric and the girls away for a couple of hours -- even if that's just in another room -- and you could get some "me time". A.L.O.N.E. That's what I would do!

  5. CONGRATS! That is so very exciting and motivating to me too. I am at the beginning of that journey but I'm hoping to be celebrating the same milestone in June at my sister's wedding. :) If you have any great low cal/low fat recipes to pass along I would gladly take them!

  6. Way to go, girl!! 20 lbs. is not something to take lightly! On my mission we had burning days to mark milestones... burn a tie/nylons when you've been out 6 months, a shirt when you've hit a year, etc. Maybe you could rip up a pair of pre-weightloss pants and have a silly ceremony about putting it in your past.

  7. Elisa! Wow! Congratulations! IT is HARD work to lose weight (for me anyway) and I am excited for you. I don't necessarily have any ideas on what you can do that's cheap, but I loved Volunteers for America on 1/2 off days. (I think it's tomorrow.) I've actually bought quite a few items for myself that I love- sweater, shirts, sweats. They've got some good steals. Anyway-- congrats again!

  8. Yay I'm so happy for you! The great thing is, once you're on a roll it's easy to keep going, you'll make that goal in no time.

  9. I love Jessica's idea of putting aside a quarter to save for a new book or art supple - it really would add up fast, and be such a good visual of all the "small and simple" things bring a "great" blessing! And entering a 5k would be awesome - the race day energy is amazing and so rejuvenating! You should do it Elisa! As for new ideas ... how about a trip down south to North Carolina to come visit an old friend?! :) I miss you ...
