It's Official: I'm Getting Published!!!

Here's the email. Everyone rejoice with me!!!! :)

Dear Elisa:

After a LONG silence from our end, I am delighted to give you official notification that your paper on Korean art has been accepted for publication in RICE PAPERS.

The only question I have at this point, before we move into editing and publishing, is whether any of the illustrations are copyrighted. If they are, we will need you to write for permission to reproduce them.

Thank you for an excellent paper and for your patience.

Best,

Van C. Gessel

So now I just need to figure out about those paintings... if only I had easy access to all the same materials! Man, it is going to be much harder to do research away from a campus! (Small obstacle. I'll get over it.) I'm so excited!!!!

  1. You're not near the Ohio State?

Congratulations! Is this something you started as an undergrad?

If I could have anything published from my undergrad years, I think it'd either be my literary analysis of San Manuel Bueno, Mártir by Miguel de Unamuno (how the walnut tree was a symbol of the priest's faith, if you've read it) or my account of the fusion of the Republican and Populist parties in North Carolina in the late 19th century. Can't remember the thesis on that one.

What is your paper about, specifically? Awesome that it melds your two fields. (Sadly, I'm not terribly interested in studying Spanish-English-American-Linguistics ;) .)

  7. LOL to Jordan's comment. I AM close to OSU. but far enough away that trying to find a perfect opportunity to go in between nap times might not be so easy. In general, I guess the apprehension comes from not being familiar with the campus. I don't even know where the library is. Where would I park? What if Gwen is noisy in the library? I don't think it will be as tolerant an atmosphere for that kind of thing as it might have been at BYU. Plus the traffic around OSU is consistently horrible, so if I miss a turn off, I'll have to drive another 15 minutes in a bumper to bumper impatient crowd to circle back around. Just doesn't sound very enticing to me, that's all. Not like a nice stroll up the ramp to BYU's library with everyone smiling and cooing at Gwen. ;)

  14. That's incredible news, Elisa! I remember how excited you were when they asked you to submit your paper -so I can imagine the feelings you have now! I would love to read it so we can talk about it. And I would love to watch Gwen for you if you'd like to go into OSU. I could even show you where the libraries are, if you'd like. It's a big campus, but once you know where your going it isn't so intimidating :)
